Comprehensive Glaucoma Examination
What Is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is often referred to as the “silent thief of sight”. It is commonly associated with increased intraocular pressure, which gradually damages the optic nerve and leads to progressive loss of peripheral vision.
Many patients do not notice visual changes in the early stages of the disease. Without timely detection and treatment, glaucoma can result in irreversible and permanent vision loss.
Comprehensive Glaucoma Examination Includes:
At Wu & Partners Optometry Clinic, our comprehensive glaucoma assessment includes the following key components:
1. Intraocular Pressure Measurement
Assessment of eye pressure levels to determine the risk of glaucoma.
2. Corneal Thickness Measurement:
Corneal thickness plays an important role in the interpretation of eye pressure readings and overall glaucoma diagnosis.
3. Gonioscopy (Anterior Chamber Angle Examination)
Evaluation of whether the angle between the iris and cornea is open or narrow, helping to assess the risk of angle-closure glaucoma.
4. Optic Nerve Head Assessment
Using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), we can detect early structural damage to the optic nerve, enabling early diagnosis of glaucoma.
5. Visual Field Test
We use the ZEISS Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, which is considered the gold standard for the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.
